What can I grow in the GreenStalk Vertical Planter?

So many plants! You can grow a wide variety of vegetables, strawberries, flowers, and herbs in both sizes of the GreenStalk Vertical Planter (Original and Leaf). We recommend growing larger plants in the GreenStalk Original and smaller plants in the GreenStalk Leaf. For a complete list, please see our downloadable planting guide here.

Can the GreenStalk Vertical Planter be used indoors? 

Our planters were made for year-round outdoor use. However some gardeners do use them indoors with modifications for lighting and drainage. We are unable to help troubleshoot for indoor gardening at this time. We are hoping to offer solutions for indoor growing in the years to come.

Is the GreenStalk Vertical Planter patented? 

Yes! We have been issued both a design and utility patent. There's nothing else like the GreenStalk Vertical Planter on the market.

How do I store my GreenStalk Vertical Planter during the winter months? 

Our planters are made for all climates. They may remain outside year-round or they can be cleaned, stacked, and stored away.

How much does each tier weigh?

Each individual planted and watered Original Tier weighs approximately 30 lbs. Each individual tier of the Leaf planter weighs approximately 23 lbs.

How much soil do I need?

Each Original Tier holds 1 cubic foot of potting mix (about 8 gallons). Each Leaf Tier holds 0.75 cubic feet of potting mix (about 6 gallons).

Do I need special soil to use GreenStalk?

The GreenStalk team's favorites are Fox Farm, Espoma, and Pro-Mix brands. However, any high-quality, lightweight potting mix would work well. Avoid using topsoil, raised bed soil, or garden soil.

How often should I water my plants?

Watering needs vary depending on time of year, weather, and the variety of plants. Upon initial set-up of the planter, we recommend completely soaking the soil by way of the water reservoir and individual pockets. When planting seeds, water with a mister until the plants are established, so as to not displace the seeds. Always check to see if the soil is moist underneath the top layer. 

How long does the water sit in the reservoir? 

GreenStalk's patented slow drip watering system allows water to drain through the system within approximately 5 minutes. If used correctly, there will be no sitting water anywhere in the system. The bottom of the GreenStalk includes little “feet” that allow water to drain out and away from the planter.

How do I fertilize my GreenStalk Garden?

You can add granular fertilizers, compost or worm castings when filling the tiers with soil. You may also add water soluble fertilizer as needed through the GreenStalk’s internal watering system when filling the top water reservoir.

Why isn't my order going through?

We know it's frustrating when you go to place an order and it won't process. The most common cause of this is that the billing address does not match your address on the credit card. If that's not the problem, or if you're still having issues checking out, please contact us.

Are your products available internationally?

We are currently shipping within the United States and Canada. We hope to expand to other countries in the coming years.

Do the GreenStalk Planters come with a warranty?

We stand behind our products with a warranty that ensures our planters won’t crack or fade for at least 5 years. If you encounter any issues, simply send a photo of the damaged pieces to support@greenstalkgarden.com for review and we will happily replace the affected piece(s) at no cost to you.

What is your return policy?

We are committed to every customer having the best growing experience possible. If you aren’t loving your GreenStalk Garden, we’d like to know so we can make it right.

We are so confident that you will love growing with GreenStalk that if you are not completely satisfied with your planter, send it back for an exchange or full refund less return shipping within 90 days of purchase.

Contact us at support@greenstalkgarden.com for a Fedex Return label at a flat rate cost of $25 for large boxes (with blue, green, or brown stamp) or $15 for smaller accessory boxes. Please note, perishable items such as seeds and fertilizer cannot be returned. We are also not able to process returns for international orders at this time.

If you would like to cancel an order, please contact us immediately at support@greenstalkgarden.com and we will do our best to cancel it before it ships. If the order has already been processed, it may not be able to be canceled.

Can I get a price adjustment for a current sale?

We understand that it's frustrating when you purchase something online only to see the price change a week or two later. We are happy to offer price adjustments in the form of store credit. In order to receive a store credit, you must have an account with us (sign up here). If you have an account with us, please go here to request a price adjustment. Please note that we are not able to refund for shipping promotions, free gift or clearance items.

How can I request a donation from GreenStalk?

We are passionate about giving back to the community and helping people grow their own food. If you are a teacher or administrator in charge of a charity or educational garden, please email us at support@greenstalkgarden.com. Please note that due to the number of requests that we receive, we are unable to donate GreenStalk Planters to individuals at this time.

Can I add another tier to my GreenStalk Garden?

You can order additional tiers or pieces for your GreenStalk in our store here. Keep in mind that we do not recommend exceeding 5 tiers of the Original or 7 tiers of the Leaf planters.

Do you have a refer-a-friend program?

Yes! You can earn store credit by referring friends and family to our store. For more information, and to sign up, please click here.

Do you have an affiliate program for established influencers?

How can I learn about sales?
