I didn't originally order the lid with my planter and I wish I had. It is so much nicer having it on and not having to retrieve leaves, plant matter or bugs out of the water well. It just keeps things cleaner, especially when there are windy days and towards the end of summer and early fall when the leaves start to fall. I will definitely order a lid with my next planter.
