Bluetooth Timer

I have one of these DIG BTT timers that was purchased here that waters both of my GreenStalk towers. For the most part, I've been happy with it... until recently.

During most of the growing season, I tend to ignore the garden unless I see something going seriously wrong or I need to do a harvest. Recently I glanced out the window and noticed that my lettuce was drooping and the beans looked weak. I checked the DIG BTT app to make sure that the plants were being watered, and much to my dismay they hadn't been watered in 10 days! No wonder the plants weren't thriving - the batteries were too weak to open the valve

The app for this timer isn't very well-written. As a retired tech writer, I know that most "Internet of Things" apps do a much better job of providing notification of low battery situations. The DIG BTT app doesn't inform you of low battery power or skipped water cycles. I've notified the manufacturer of this with hopes that it will be rectified with an app update, but I'm not holding my breath. I'll just check the batteries more often!
