Individual Piece Measurements
Each Seed Starter Kit requires approximately 20 cups of potting soil.

First, let me say that I really like these. But I think each component is more useful alone than as a set together. What's good:
1- they are SO sturdy and heavy duty. You wont need to buy any other pots for seedlings but these. They will last forever.
2- the bottom tray is great. Perfect for mixing seed starting soil, watering it down and potting up the plants. They make cleaning up so easy. Much better for this task than a regular 10x20 tray which isn't larger enough, or a mat, which is too flexible..
3- the 2.5 inch pot is a great size for planting into the greenstalk. I dont have to knock away soil to easily plant.
4- I think the carrying tray will be really nice for harvesting.
5- they are easy to clean.
Some cons:
1- the size (ironic since I like the large bottom tray for potting up). I wish the pots would fit nicely into 10x20 standard tray . I can fit a lot more plants and trays on my lighted grow shelves with the narrow 10x20s. So I ended up using other pots and trays to maximize space. I start about 250 plants, so space is a premium.
2- I take the pots off of the carrier and just put them on the tray to water. I was afraid that there would be standing water between the carrier and pots. Not sure if that would have been the case, but I didnt want to encourage gnats.
3- I wish there weren't groves on the bottom tray. They are there to stabilize the 6-cell pots, and that is nice. But if they weren't there I could add a few other single pots and have everything…
Ok- the idea of these is great! Compact, aesthetically pleasing, easy to move to garden for transplant, etc. BUT here are my cons…
1. The slits make them dry out too quickly. I decided to line with coffee filters to help with multiple issues and this kept them a bit more moist. 1 star off for this
2. I don’t know How the heck people are getting their seedlings out but these are impossible to remove and not destroy. With the coffee filters I ended up letting them dry a bit and pushing from the bottom. Now- I have tiny baby hands so this worked for me but my fingers would stick so this probably wouldn’t work for others. These are too small at the base I’d say.
3. What about heating mats?!? With 2 layers under the starters heating mats seem impossible. I ended up taking the solid base away and finally my soil got to where it needed to be.
I would not recommend and wish I would have returned honestly.
I love the razzleberry color and the trays! I don't use the domes for the most part.... I bought quite a few when they came out but I barely use them, originally you did not have to buy the domes with the trays. I would buy more but I don't want any more domes!
I have the green and black seed starter kits and I'm so glad I have a burst of sunshine on the dismal March/April days when I start seeds indoors. I started growing cauliflower and kale and the domes help keep the humidity so seeds sprout quicker and grow strong!
My first time using I am starting beans and they are currently almost ready for planting. I really like the center handle for carrying.
