The lid is perfect. It blocks the debris blowing in the yard from getting into the top water reservoir. Also makes sure little critters stay out!
I really like the mixing of the two sizes. Just planted it out yesterday.

With the amount of things and critters flying around this keeps the water area clean and holes free of getting blocked. The side opening allows me to hang my sprayer so I can do other things as it fills up.
