How long have you been growing with GreenStalk?
This will be my second summer with the GreenStalk Garden.
What color and size GreenStalk do you own?
I have the stunning stone GreenStalk in both 5 Tier and 3 Tier. This year I will use them as two 4 tiered ones! I love the versatility of them.
What's your profession?
I am a Hearing Instrument Specialist at Costco.
Do you describe yourself as a new gardener, hobby gardener, or professional gardener?
I would consider myself a hobby gardener, always ready to try something new!
Where are you located?
I live in Liberty Lake, Wa...Zone 6A
Are you the primary gardener or do you have helpers?
My husband is my co-gardener...he does the heavy lifting and keeps the yard and garden looking beautiful.
What kind of potting mix and fertilizer do you use?
I used Miracle Grow potting soil with long acting fertilizer in it.
How often do you water your GreenStalk Vertical Planter?
The GreenStalk Garden got watered about every 2-3 days, depending on the temperature at that time.
Tell us what your favorite plants are to grow in the GreenStalk.
So far I have started geraniums from seeds, in the 5 tiered one (over winter) then planted strawberries, cucumbers and alyssum in it for summer. This winter I am over wintering some spikes from my porchrail baskets and they are doing fine so far in my basement.
Explain what you wouldn't grow again.
So far, I haven't found a plant to not grow in it. I try to stay with smaller plants though.
What growing accessories do you recommend and why?
I have the Moverand a bug netting to keep birds out of the strawberries, but you can't have other plants that need pollinating growing at the same time. So I moved the tower into an area with bird netting over our raised garden, which kept out the birds, but let the bees in. In fact, I'm that confident about my own decision to move my tower into the bird netting area, that I've recently told my friend who lives in England to have a look at these anti bird netting services in london so she can reap the same benefits. We love looking at the birds, but sometimes they can be a bit of a nuisance when it comes to our garden, so this should help to make a positive difference.
What is your top tip for someone thinking about starting a GreenStalk Garden?
My top tip would be to put it close to your water source so watering is easier than having to carry a heavy watering can a long distance.
